My Maintenance Program

“As an aging athlete, I am often asked what my ‘maintenance program’ looks like: “Given all your years, it must be nice that now you don’t have to train as much as in your younger years.”

Not true, really. While yes, I have worked to keep my physique to a certain level of fitness, things do change. And I must still work the canvas, so to speak.

But I have learned through research, watching my own body change over the decades, and having coached women for 3 decades, that the longer you’ve been doing weights, and the less crazy dieting you’ve done, the more resilient your body, and the better you hang onto all that hard work. AND your hormonal balance remains more intact (we cover this in detail in my Master Your Metabolism course).

No, I can’t eat as much as I used to, and after 30 years of lifting, the ability to add on fresh muscle is extremely limited, if at all. But I AM able to continue to tighten and tone what I have, and to keep the skin tight. And I continue to get deeper muscle separation too (more definition).

“But my metabolism just shut off”, I often hear. No it didn’t. You simply didn’t keep the muscle on your body as you aged with proper training, and your dieting and cardio efforts may have worked against you all these years. As aging women-in-training, we simply must train and eat a different way.

My gals are in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Age has no limit. The body is the body. The same training and eating principles apply (albeit a bit of shifting for us older gals!).

So put away your apps, your Pinterest board and your magazines and invest in REAL coaching, from someone who has walked your Path every step of the way! And enjoy the support and community that we create, as we learn and grow and become empowered in our fitness and lifestyle goals.

WHAT OTHERS HAVE DISCOVERED…..

“When looking at my body, I feel proud strong confident.  I know I can tackle any project and have determination for life’s challenges. I’ve also noticed that my body is making changes in its shape. I feel my legs getting stronger, tighter and shapely. Thanks for an amazing Challenge! Much love and respect, Karen!” – Mandy Humphries, client since 2012.

“When I started this journey…, my goal was to take time out from instructing fitness classes to work on my fitness and to learn how Karen approached coaching, What I am finding is a journey that has not only made me physically stronger but I think more importantly is helping me to acknowledge patterns and habits that are both positive and negative….But, I think more importantly, it is helping me to honour and love me!” Leslie Glover, Instructor

This is the challenge I started with four years ago to build strength and feel my best. Today I am still with the Warrior Woman Fitness and Lifestyle program. I love the community of women you meet, who support each other on their journey and realize it is more than just “lifting weights”. Karen is an amazing coach with over 30 years of experience and she keeps it real. No gimmicks, no tricks. Invest in yourself. You are worth it. Sign up has started now for January 2018.” Alison West, Warrior Woman Ambassador – client since 2013.
