Pro BodyBuilder Sandra Blackie on training, eating, ageing and more!

I have been a big fan of Canadian IFBB Pro Sandra Blackie since she first stepped on the Canadian stage back in the 1980’s.

With over 20 shows under her belt (including winning the Canadian National Championships in 1986 and being a high placer at three Miss Olympia’s), she retired, but never gave up her love of iron. She continued to invest in her love of nutrition and training education over the years, and hence, is a highly sought after teacher, coach and program developer throughout the world.

She is originally from Montreal, and graduated from Concordia University with a degree in Recreation and Leisure studies, and has continued to earn major certifications in nutrition, movement, coaching and more. Her continual commitment  to ongoing education certainly is impressive!

She now lives in San Diego and is owner of Freedom of Fitness gym, and has a full roster of clients throughout the year. Her quest has always been to ‘continually educate people along the way’, as that is how they can best be served, in an industry sometimes fraught with myths, get-fit-quick schemes and other nonsense that has pervaded the industry.

In this interview, I sit down with Sandra and talk about her training and eating philosophy, how she works with clients (both easy and hard ones), how aging indeed changes our bodies and our metabolisms, how quality movement is central to all that she teaches, and more!

For more on her training and services, she can be found at is www.freedomoffitness.com
You can also find her on Facebook by searching Freedom of Fitness and Sandra Blackie.

Enjoy!
