Immune Boosting Smoothie

Finally, the nice weather is here and unfortunately a host of respiratory illness along with it.  I have had clients dropping like flies with sinus and lung infections, bronchitis and the common cold.  What can a person do to stay healthy?  Prevention and boosting the immune system to stay strong body and mind.

This week I have an Immune Boosting Smoothie that will warm your stomach, energize you and give the extra edge you need to fight off those nasty bugs floating around.  It’s loaded with Vit A, antioxidants, anti inflammatories and Vit C which all support the immune system.  Plus, it tastes good.  I like mine more warming so play with the amount of ginger and turmeric to get the flavour you enjoy.

Immune Boosting Smoothie

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup cooked, cooled sweet potato
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric (ground - for best absorption use Turmeric that has black pepper in it)
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon (ground)
  • 3/4 tsp Ginger (ground)
  • 1/2 tbsp Chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cashew or Almond or Coconut Milk
  • 1 Mandarin orange (peeled)
  • 1/2 tbsp Maple Syrup or Honey or ½ - 1 tsp of Organic Stevia
  • 20 grams Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 4-5 ice cubes

Instructions
 

  • Put all ingredients in blender and blend until desired consistency. Pour into glass and enjoy!
